The II Open Festival-Contest of Snow and Ice Sculptures "The Magic Ice of Siberia" to Take Place in Krasnoyarsk

Within the framework of the VIII Winter Surikov Art Festival (December 24, 2013 – January 24, 2014) in Krasnoyarsk the contest of ice and snow sculptures, master classes with participation of the experts from the Association of snow and ice tourism of the world cities, a number of socio-cultural activities will be held.

The festival will be dedicated to the declared Year of Culture in Russia and the 90-th anniversary of the writer V.P. Astafyev.

The embankment of the river Yenisey and the park named after the 400-th anniversary of Krasnoyarsk will become the venue of the large-scale event where masters will erect ice and snow sculptures, playgrounds from snow and ice – slides, fortresses, mazes.

Since 2012, Krasnoyarsk is a member of the Association of snow and ice tourism of the world cities. That is why during Winter Surikov Art Festival in 2013 the I Open festival of snow and ice sculptures "The Magic ice of Siberia" was held.

The festival-contest was dedicated to the 165-th anniversary of the birth of V.I. Surikov and the 385-th anniversary of the foundation of the city of Krasnoyarsk. The event has attracted 24 teams from the United States, China and the cities of Russia.
